Welcome to the website for randonneuring events in the South/Central Florida region organized by Central Florida Randonneurs.  Anyone with an interest in long-distance cycling is welcome to join us on these rides.

The rides of the Central Florida Randonneurs are sanctioned by the Randonneurs USA (RUSA) and Audax Club Parisien (ACP) in France.  Randonneuring, as defined on the RUSA website, is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

Rides are organized as brevets, challenging long-distance events that must be completed within certain time limits.  Riders are provided with cue sheets showing the route and brevet cards at the start of the ride.  Riders must stop at checkpoints or controls to prove they have covered the official route in the specified time.  At each checkpoint, a brevet staff worker (or in many cases an employee of the location of the checkpoint) will sign the brevet card.  Upon completion of the ride, the brevet card is kept by the organizer for verification and the results are submitted to RUSA, and in the case of ACP events, the ACP.  Once the results are verified and processed, the completed cards are returned to each rider.

RUSA members are entitled to buy a handsome brevet medal at the end of each ACP-sanctioned event if they finish the event successfully.

Membership in RUSA or the Central Florida Randonneurs is not required in order to participate in these events.
